Description
Scarce MM to New Zealand recipient who was KIA on 12/10/17 ( New Zealands "bloodiest day ") . Citation as follows ; " For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the Passchendaele Offensive Operations on 12th October 1917. After two N.C.O's of his platoon had been killed, he personally gathered two sections and led them forward in the attack. Up to the time he was wounded he handled these sections with skill and courage ".
