WW1 NZEF 1914 star / British war medal Victory medal trio correctly impressed to ; 2/2219 Gnr AL Mclean NZEF .Mclean served wth the trench Mortar battery . The trench mortars ( "Stove pipes" ) were particularly detested by the soldiers in the trenches when located in their vicinity due to the amount of enemy fire they attracted & trech mortar crews sustained high casualty numbers.
