UK 1881 Afghanistan medal 63rd foot

Description

1854 Afghanistan medal, no clasp.  Correctly engraved 613 Pte Wm HUMES 63 Regt . Humes enlisted 1861 & disharged 1883 . Copy of service file indicates the 5 foot 4" Humes hailed from county Donegal Ireland , was born c1844 , thus being 17 upon enlistment in 1861 .During his 22 years "under the colours" Humes served in India & Afghanistan (although no mention of India medal entitlement ) . He was punished for "Drunkeness & Desertion " although service record describes him being "Temperate & of Very good conduct " . He spent time in hospital for being accidentally shot ?? .
